jean-françois ganevat returned to the jura in 1998, to the combe de rotalier, after many years in chassagne-montrachet, with jean-marc morey. close to the philosophy of natural wines without claiming to be one, the winegrower masters biodynamics perfectly. he has forged a very personal image of what a great wine should be: each parcel selection has a singular personality, with a variation of harmonies and tensions that reflects each terroir. thanks to low yields and considerable work in the vineyard, the reds, which are increasingly matured in terracotta jars, now achieve a fantastic level of expression. there is also the sublime yellow wine and the incomparable les vignes de mon père, a savagnin aged for ten years. the wines have never been as good as in recent vintages. there is something in them that vibrates on the skin. if the winemaker takes risks, it is in search of an aesthetic ideal, in the service of emotion.
