Domaine La Roquete Description
When to drink: 2024 to 2036
James Suckling: 95 Points
A spectacular white, spicy, balanced and harmonious, with aromas of baked lemons, anise, honeysuckle, warm herbs and a touch of blanched almonds. It's medium- to full-bodied with precise definition on the palate. Lively and vibrant with a caressing texture at the edges. The center-palate is vibrating with tension. Long finish. Drink or hold.
Wine Advocate: 92-94 Points
Roughly one-third each Clairette, Grenache and Roussanne, the 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc was still awaiting bottling at the end of June 2023. Hints of honey accent ripe pineapple aromas in this medium to full-bodied wine, which is plump and round in the mouth, yet it finishes bright and zesty, with ample citrusy length. Part of the Brunier family's holdings (Vieux Télégraphe), Clos la Roquête is a white wine-only property based on a sandy site located near Pignan and Rayas. The physical winery is located in the village of Châteauneuf du Pape, housing the winemaking facility for Piedlong and processing about half the fruit for the Telegramme label. The wines are fine and elegant, roughly equal parts Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne.
