This brawny red opens with aromas of underbrush, scorched earth and stewed prune. The assertive, muscular and monolithic palate shows the scorching heat of the torrid vintage, offering prune, carob and the barest hints of dried cherry but mostly the heat of blistering alcohol. Grainy tannins that clench the raspy, astringent finish throw it even further off balance.
