The soil here is soft, deep volcanic ash with basaltic pebbles. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation and aging in French oak barriques and tonneaux. The wine is bottled after 18 months of oak aging . Of all the crus, it is the usually the first to be ready to drink.

Rosy and perfumed, the 2022 Etna Rosso Feudo di Mezzo opens with a lovely bouquet that blends dried flowers with crushed strawberries and hints of lavender. This displays textures of pure silk with a lifted and finessed feel. Tart wild berry fruits add a lovely inner tension. A web of fine-grained tannins frames the experience nicely as the 2022 tapers off with staining length and a tart cranberry concentration.
