The Eyrie Vineyards Description
Eyrie is the godfather of Oregon wine. The first to plant Pinot noir in the Willamette Valley, the first to plant Pinot gris in North America, the first to show the world Oregon Chardonnay's aging prowess. Not that you should age this Chardonnay, because it is drinking beautifully. I opened it last night and had to practice major restraint not to finish the bottle. Fresh citrus and pear flavors, sublime texture, a quiet mineral pulse. Stunning.
Eyrie's contribution to Oregon Chardonnay is vast and cannot be overstated. From my perspective, Eyrie's revelatory 30-year vertical tasting of their Chardonnays (which I was very fortunate to attend) was a major catalyst for the Oregon Chard renaissance. - Marcus
Wine Enthusiast: 96 Points
Even if winemaker Jason Lett tripled the price of this wine, it would still be a standout among its peers. This opens with intense aromatics of pineapple fruit, bracing acidity, and compelling length. On the second and third day after opening it remained quite fresh and expressive, with further details of fruit and mineral beginning to emerge. Drink now through 2035."
