Forget the idea that this appellation is all about firm and assertive wines, because this is very elegant. For such a warm and dry vintage, this has a wonderful freshness and only red fruit (think summer berries, including strawberries) that is finely nuanced. At once well structured and supple on the medium-bodied palate, with a long finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Mont des Oiseaux 1er Cru was raised in 35% new oak and taken from barrel. The nose demonstrated a slight reduction, though attractive cranberry and wild strawberry fruit are already in place. The medium-bodied palate offers dark berry fruit laced with blood orange and a touch of clove. Quite citrus-fresh towards the well-structured finish. There is ample depth here, and the oak allows the terroir to shine. Very fine. Drink: 2026-2038.
