Perillo - Taurasi Riserva 'Quindici Anni' 2005
Vinous: 95 Points
"The 2005 Taurasi Riserva Quindici Anni is a fifteen-year-late release from Perillo. It lifts up with a wave of white smoke, crushed stone and minty herbs. Further coaxing brings forward dusty black blackberry, hints of sage and notes of savory air-dried meats; wait, is this Taurasi or Northern Rhone? It enters the palate with silky textures and unexpected lift, coming across as lively and fresh, as bright strawberry fruits and zesty acids add further mouthwatering tension. Those grippy Aglianico tannins are there, yet they've taken a backseat to the 2005's vivid red fruits and inner spices, as this tapers off with incredible length through the licorice, rose-tinged and lightly structured finale. This is showing beautifully today with a little air; but frankly, there is an even brighter future on the horizon." - Eric Guido, October 2021
